Setting Your Financial Plan

24 Nov 2010

A business involved in selling liquor, beer or wine just like every other business has only one goal in scope and that is to make a handsome profit. The first step to this handsome profit is to make sure that the business has a firm control over the liquor, beer and wine inventory.

There is no way of knowing whether your business is running a profit or a loss if you do not set targets and monitor the failures or successes that come on your way to meeting these targets. Creation of a budget is more than imperative if you are going to try and reach this set goal.

So what is a budget really? The easiest way to define it is as a financial plan. In this plan the sales that are expected in the near future are compared to the expenditure also expected.

In the beginning, this financial plan will have no other information within it but what we are expecting to have for our sales, expenditure and in the end, profits.

A new entity will be assumed by the budget however once you enter into the actual budget period. What was once just projected figures will now become important data that we can use to compare to the actual goings on of the trading period.

The software that we had decided upon as our mode of data collection for our wine, liquor or beer inventory will be more than important for analyzing all our budget results.

Our input will be crucial as the budget period keeps elapsing. Due to the fact that we cannot always forecast the exact happenings of the trading period, the budget will have to keep on being adjusted as the time goes by.

In the final stage of this chosen period, all the new and original data will have to be compared. Only then can we identify the areas we need to focus on in the new coming period to reach our new targets.
