In a Loan Modification, the Banker Holds the Cards - Learn How to Take Back Control
I’ve heard the story so many times. The banker thought he would be doing the loan modification with the homeowner. The man was practically champing at the bit knowing he was in a power position. Think about it - what an advantage the banker would have over most common folk. The banks want every dime they can get and the easiest way to do that is to target the defenseless homeowner. Of course, you are going to see ads promoted by banks warning against loan modification companies. The banks don’t want to deal with a loan modification specialist. The banks tell the homeowner they don’t need a home loan modification specialist, even going so far as to say the modification companies will just be taking their money. They will do everything in their power to try to work directly with the homeowner because they know there is so much emotion involved that many times the defenseless homeowner gives into whatever the bank says, whether it is unreasonable or not. A big reason why many of the home modifications being done by the homeowner are failing is because the homeowner is an emotional mess - stressed, panicked, desperate, scared. He or she makes an arrangement with an experienced bank negotiator that doesn’t work in his or her best interest because they don’t know their options or are just so overwhelmed. The experienced bank negotiator is negotiating day in and day out and also knows the financial side of the business. That poor homeowner doesn’t have a prayer. For most homeowners, just a couple of big terms concerning financing can throw them for a loop. Moreover, the experienced bank negotiator knows the homeowner is an emotional mess and will say yes to almost any type of agreement so he will use it to the bank’s advantage. It doesn’t have to be this way. Just think for one moment…If you are having electrical problems in my home, are you going to do it yourself and risk electrocution, a house fire, maybe even your life - or are you going to hire a licensed electrician and make sure the job is done right? Obviously, bankers are hoping you do it yourself. Please make sure you know all of your options. Hopefully this article has helped.. Robert S.
